Devon’s estate character was set by a wave of early-20th-century country houses built for Philadelphia’s industrial families. Grey Craig, on Wetherby Drive, was designed in 1902 by architect William Price as a Romanesque, Gothic, and Tudor hunting lodge for James Patterson of the Patterson Whiting Paper Company, set on a hilltop that once commanded 76 acres.
