Contemporary Living Room
A Contemporary living room with neutral toned sofas, punches of color and metal accents.
NGD Interiors transformed this dark front formal living room, into a contemporary living room that guests will want to LIVE in. The original space featured old worn out carpeting, dated wallpaper and no overhead lighting. We created an overall design plan that implemented new hardwood flooring, overhead lighting, freshly painted walls trimmed in crown molding and sleek contemporary black and steel cable stair railings. Next we implemented a furniture floor plan that took the seating area from being “scared up against the wall” to floating invitingly for guests to sit and chat for awhile. The neutral sofa and matching side chairs feature silver nailheads and contemporary patterned pillows. The neutral tones of the sofa brighten up the space and allow for brightly colored accessories such as the contemporary multicored rug and bright blue lamps to pop. Soft draperies in a contemporary geometric pattern soften the large bay window. The draperies allow for the window to be open to view the front door and allow morning sun, or during the evening to attractively fully close to allow for privacy. Accents of black, such as the black shelving bookcases with contemporary geometric cutouts allow for multipurpose display of books as well as the cherished clients collectables. The black console table with overhead contemporary sunray mirror is the perfect compliment to this small narrow space before heading up the stairs. A white West Elm midcentury modern desk and brightly colored chair provides a quiet corner to set up a laptop, write a check or store pens and paper. Finishing off the space are hammered silver side tables and coffee table, finishing off this contemporary living room.
